Although Steve Jobs is no longer with us, I think about his situation and how it seemed like only experimentation and willing subjects stood in the way of figuring out a cure for his cancer. But, it's no so much that research is bad as is the unethical application of research, including uninformed consent, propaganda, coercion, and not properly maintaining a control group for practicing good science and experimentation.
